The Numbers Up Front
A redesign with us is priced exactly like a new build, because that’s what a proper redesign is — we don’t patch over an aging site, we rebuild it clean on modern foundations and move your content over. From our published pricing:
$497
Starter — up to 5 pages, one-time
$997
Professional — up to 15 pages, one-time
$1,997
Enterprise — unlimited pages, one-time
$0
to see the redesign preview before paying
Those are one-time fees. The market you’re comparing against: freelancers typically quote redesigns in the low thousands, and established agencies commonly land between $2,500 and $15,000+ for small business scope — frequently with a required monthly “website management” contract stacked on top. Some of that spread reflects real scope differences. A lot of it reflects offices and account managers you’re paying for.
Five Signs a Redesign Will Pay for Itself
A redesign is a business investment, not a beauty treatment. It earns its cost back when at least a couple of these are true:
- It fails on phones. Most local browsing happens on mobile now. If visitors have to pinch-zoom your menu, you’re losing them before they read a word.
- It loads slowly. Every extra second of load time bleeds visitors, especially on rural connections. Slow sites also get ranked below fast ones for the same searches.
- You’re embarrassed by it. If you hesitate before putting your URL on a truck, a card, or a quote sheet, the site is costing you jobs you never hear about.
- Competitors clearly outclass you. Customers comparison-shop in tabs. When your site is visibly the weakest of the three, being the best at the actual work doesn’t save you.
- It produces zero leads. A website that has never made the phone ring isn’t an asset, it’s a liability with a renewal fee.
One caveat in the other direction: if your site is merely dated but fast, mobile-friendly, and steadily producing leads, don’t rush to gut it. Redesigning a working site because it’s boring is how you spend money to lose rankings.
What a Real Redesign Includes
Ground-Up Rebuild
New design, new code, modern stack — not a new coat of paint on old bones. Old platform baggage stays behind.
URL & Redirect Care
Existing page addresses kept or 301-redirected so the rankings and links you’ve earned carry over instead of vanishing.
Mobile-First Layout
Designed for the phone screen first, because that’s where most of your visitors are standing when they find you.
SEO Foundation Rebuilt
Titles, descriptions, schema markup, sitemap, and page structure redone properly — usually far better than the old site had.
Speed as a Feature
Lean pages served fast. Speed is a ranking factor and a conversion factor — the redesign should be dramatically quicker.
Full Ownership Transfer
You own the finished code, the domain, and the hosting. If your old site was held hostage, this is where that ends.
What Legitimately Moves the Price
When a redesign quote scales from $497 territory toward $1,997 — or from $2,500 to $15,000 at an agency — these are the honest reasons:
- Page count and content volume. Migrating and restructuring 40 pages of content is genuinely more work than 5.
- E-commerce. Products, carts, and payments add real engineering. (Our e-commerce builds start at $1,999 as one-time projects.)
- Custom functionality. Booking systems, member areas, calculators, CRM integrations — each is scope beyond a marketing site.
- Content writing. If nobody has words for the new pages, someone has to write them. We offer content writing for 5 pages at $299 one-time.
- Branding work. A redesign sometimes surfaces the deeper problem — no real logo or brand identity. That’s a separate discipline ($499 one-time with us).
The Hidden Fees That Should End Negotiations
The pattern to watch: a modest build price attached to a mandatory monthly fee. A “$2,500 redesign” with a required $250/mo management contract is a $5,500 first year — and a $32,500 decade.
- Mandatory management retainers. Maintenance should be optional. Ours starts at $100/mo if you want it — plenty of clients handle their own updates or just call when they need something.
- Marked-up hosting. Small business hosting is cheap in 2026. With us, domain & hosting setup runs from $15/yr+, varying by domain name. Multi-hundred-dollar monthly “hosting” line items for a brochure site deserve hard questions.
- Per-revision billing during the build. Revision rounds should be defined up front. Our packages include one to unlimited rounds depending on tier — in writing, before we start.
- Ownership traps. If the agency keeps the domain or the code, the redesign you paid for isn’t yours. This is the fee you pay when you eventually leave, and it’s the most expensive one on this list. We covered how to screen for it in choosing a web designer in St. Cloud.
Redesign vs. Starting Over: A Quick Decision Rule
Owners sometimes ask whether to redesign the existing site or scrap the domain and start clean. Almost always: keep the domain, rebuild the site. Your domain carries age and any earned rankings — that history is an asset. The only common exceptions are a rebrand with a legal name change or a domain dragging a spam-penalty history. If you’re on a rented builder platform and moving to a custom site you own, the calculus is slightly different — we walked through it in Wix vs custom.
Whatever you decide, the process with us starts the same way: we build the redesigned homepage as a free preview, you compare it side-by-side with what you have, and you only pay if you want it built out. Worst case, you’ve seen a professional take on your site for nothing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a small business website redesign cost?
With us, redesigns are priced like fresh builds: $497 Starter (up to 5 pages), $997 Professional (up to 15 pages), $1,997 Enterprise (unlimited) — one-time. Typical agency quotes run $2,500–$15,000+ for small business scope, often with monthly contracts attached.
Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?
Only if it’s done carelessly — changed URLs without redirects throw away earned rankings. Done right, existing URLs are kept or 301-redirected, the SEO foundation is rebuilt stronger, and improved speed typically helps rankings.
How do I know if I actually need a redesign?
Failing on phones, slow loads, embarrassment about the URL, visibly weaker than competitors, or zero leads ever. Two or more of those and the redesign usually pays for itself. Dated-but-working sites can wait.
What hidden fees should I watch for?
Mandatory monthly management contracts, marked-up hosting, per-revision billing, and ownership clauses that keep your domain or code with the agency. Get every recurring cost itemized in writing first.
Can I see the redesign before I pay?
Yes — we build a free design preview of your redesigned site before you pay anything, and we’ll beat any lower written quote from another agency.
