Storm-day route app
Puts tonight's stops in road order, leads with the do-first stops, shows one stop at a time with Navigate, On my way and Done, re-plans from GPS and checks the finish time against the promise.
Style Marking builds the programs and systems behind a business: apps, automations, AI tools, dashboards, CRMs and full software products. We run our own companies on what we build, meet in person around St. Cloud and Central Minnesota, and build remotely for businesses anywhere in the US.
Custom software development means building a program around the way your business already works, instead of bending the business around a subscription. For a small business that is usually one focused tool, not a giant platform.
That tool might be an app your crew opens in the field, an automation that moves a lead from your website to your phone in seconds, a dashboard that shows who still owes you money, or a quoting tool that drafts the estimate for you to check. Most of what we build replaces a spreadsheet, a stack of overlapping apps, or a job somebody does by hand every week.
The goal is boring reliability. The software does one job well, keeps a log of what it did, and tells a person when something needs a human. Below are the kinds of systems we build, the ones we run ourselves, and how a project runs from the first call to the monthly plan.
Pick the closest fit. Most projects end up touching two or three of these.
iPhone, iPad, web and desktop apps: field apps that live on a phone, customer apps, and internal tools for the office.
Learn moreLead alerts, follow-ups, routing, compliance paperwork and bookkeeping that run on their own and alert a person when something breaks.
Learn moreAI receptionists, missed-call text-back, AI-assisted quoting and document reading, with human handoff and rules-based fallbacks.
Learn morePipelines, job boards, money-owed views and client portals built on your own data instead of a seat-priced platform.
Learn moreSubscription software from waitlist to billing: accounts, Stripe, data kept separate per customer, and the marketing site that sells it.
Learn moreThe website is usually the front door to the system. Custom sites with lead capture wired into everything above.

Fills Minnesota's DLI Certified Payroll form and Statement of Compliance from weekly hours, with prevailing-wage rates, daily overtime and running job totals. It produced 12 consecutive packages for a framing subcontractor at 10 to 15 minutes each.
Each website form posts to a small function that pushes the lead to a phone with a tap-to-call button in seconds, while an invisible human check screens out bots without dropping real customers.
Three sets of books on one Mac: bank statements in, rules first, AI only for the leftovers, a CPA package out. Rules placed 1,081 of the first 1,229 transactions on the first pass.
Answers calls, books appointments from a business's own knowledge base and hands urgent calls to a person. It is in private testing on our own business line.
Calendar, tasks, invoices and books in one place. The web app is in early access; the iPhone app is built with React Native and is not in the App Store yet.
We would rather talk you out of a build than sell you one you don't need. Build custom when:
Don't build yet when:
Not sure which side you're on? These eight signs are the test we use, and this post covers where no-code tools stop being enough.
We walk through the job the software has to do: who uses it, where the data comes from, and what should happen when something goes wrong. Bring the spreadsheet or the sticky notes.
You get a plain-English scope listing the screens, automations and integrations, plus what is out of scope, with the build price and the monthly plan spelled out before any work starts.
You see working software early, on your own phone or computer, and we adjust as you use it. Real data moves in when you're ready, not before.
We move your data, show whoever uses it how it works, and set up alerts so a failure reaches a person before it reaches a customer.
Hosting, monitoring, backups, updates and the changes you ask for, covered by the services you chose. Add or drop services as the business changes.
Every project gets a set price for the initial build, then a monthly plan for only the services you need, priced to compete with the big names. Request a free quote and you'll know the full scope and price before work starts.
We are a Central Minnesota shop. Meetings around St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, Waite Park, St. Joseph, Cold Spring and the towns nearby can happen in person, at your shop, office or job site. Further out, from Alexandria and Little Falls to the Twin Cities and beyond, we work by video call and screen share. The software is the same either way.
Because our founder runs construction and service companies here, much of what we build fits how local businesses actually operate: crews in the field with patchy signal, seasonal work like snow removal, prevailing-wage paperwork on public jobs, bookings that come in by form, and owners who answer leads from a truck. See the towns we cover or the work we've built.
We pick well-supported, widely used tools and keep your records in a standard database with exports, so a report, an accountant or a future developer can always read them.
Every project gets a set price for the initial build, then a monthly plan for only the services you need, priced to compete with the big names. Request a free quote and you'll know the full scope and price before work starts.
The quote call is free, and the written quote spells out both the build price and the monthly plan.
It depends on the scope. A focused automation or internal tool is a much shorter job than a customer-facing app or a subscription product. Your written scope includes the timeline, and you see working pieces along the way instead of waiting for one big reveal.
Yes. Around St. Cloud and the nearby towns we're happy to meet at your shop, office or job site. Everywhere else in the United States we work by video call and screen share, and the software is the same either way.
Usually. If a tool has an API or a clean export, we can read from it or write to it: Stripe, Google Sheets, bank and accounting exports, Twilio, email and calendars are common. If something you rely on has no way in, we'll tell you in the quote call instead of finding out mid-build.
The monthly plan keeps it running: hosting, monitoring, backups, security updates and the changes you ask for, depending on the services you chose. Alerts go to a person when something fails, so problems get fixed before a customer notices.
Not always. If a mainstream app already fits how you work and your team likes it, keep it; we'll say so. Custom pays off when you re-type the same data into several tools, when a missed step costs real money, or when your way of working is the advantage and the subscription forces you into someone else's.
Send the spreadsheet, the workflow or the idea. We'll come back with a written scope, a set build price and the monthly plan, so you know the full picture before any work starts.
